Heroic benches es3tag and Snappi

The org will announce the replacements next week.

Danish CS:GO team Heroic has moved Patrick “es3tag” Hansen and Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer to the inactive roster, the organization announced today.

The move comes during a period of turbulence for Heroic, who were on the brink of selling the roster to FunPlus Phoenix in February until the deal fell through due to es3tag agreeing to join Astralis upon the end of his contract with Heroic.

“Heroic has during the last month experienced somewhat of a turmoil, but is finally back on track,” the org said in a statement. The Danish team thanked es3tag and Snappi for their services and will announce the two new players over the next week.

Es3tag has been part of Heroic since June 2017 and was part of the team’s multiple itterations over these years. Snappi, on the other hand, joined Heroic for the second time in August 2019 to take over the in-game leadership. He and es3tag won one tournament together at DreamHack Open Atlanta in November 2019.

As Casper “cadiaN” Møller took the captain role recently, this may have motivated Snappi’s removal. There are some Danish players available in free agency, including Jakob “JUGi” Hansen and Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen, who played for Heroic in the past.

It’s unclear, however, if Heroic will sign established players or bet on fresh talent to rebuild its CS:GO roster after the sale to FunPlus Phoenix fell through.

We Really Want Paper Zelda To Be A Real Thing Now

Forget Paper Mario, a fan-made animation showing off a parody Paper Zelda has convinced us that it’s the next game we want on Nintendo Switch.

The Paper Mario series is one of the most popular Super Mario spinoffs, and there is a notable rumor stating Nintendo is planning a new Paper Mario for release this year. This wouldn’t be surprising since Nintendo likes to have different types of Mario games in addition to the main platformers. The same can’t be said about The Legend of Zelda, however. Nintendo hasn’t dabbled in many Zelda spinoffs, instead keeping to the franchise’s core gameplay styles. If a new animation is any indication, Nintendo may want to consider giving the Zelda series the paper treatment.

Popular YouTube channel 64 Bits has uploaded an animation titled “Paper Zelda (A Crafted Parody).” As the title implies, the animation showcases what a Zelda game done in the style of Paper Mario, namely Thousand-Year Door, could look like. The animation was uploaded on April Fool’s Day, and it would probably fool anyone if not for the obvious title including “parody.” Besides that, it looks like a professionally-made game from Nintendo.

The animation impressively gives the franchise the art style of Paper Mario. The video recreates certain scenes from the Zelda series, such as flying the Crimson Loftwing in Skyward Sword and facing off against King Bulblin in Twilight Princess. Part of the Breath of the Wild sequel trailer is also included. The overworld looks reminiscent of the map style in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Suffice to say, Nintendo may want to consider doing a Paper Zelda now that fans have a seen a glimpse of what the game could look.

The Zelda series has never featured turn-based combat, so that would be a unique gameplay challenge. As 64 Bits’ video shows, Link would have his signature moves, such as the charge attack and the hookshot. However, some fans might be asking whether or not the paper style work for Zelda. As The Wind Waker and the remake of Link’s Awakening have shown, bright art styles can work for the series. Hopefully, Nintendo will someday look into giving the popular franchises the paper treatment.

Respawn dev says Kings Canyon loot will improve with Apex Legends update

Fans of Apex Legends have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming week. The Old Ways lore event is arriving on Tuesday, April 7, introducing a new game mode, Bloodhound’s Town Takeover, and a plethora of cosmetics. However, Respawn will also introduce a new update with the event that’s set to bring some big changes. We don’t know every change that’s coming, but a Respawn developer has confirmed one alteration, and it has to do with the loot on Kings Canyon in Apex Legends.

Kings Canyon loot boost

Since the beginning of the Ranked play second split, fans have complained about the loot pool. Compared to World’s Edge, it seems like Kings Canyon doesn’t offer nearly enough useful items to compete in a Ranked game.

Professional players and members of the community have expressed this sentiment for a while now. Although it isn’t one of Apex Legends‘ biggest issues, it does somewhat ruin the experience of Ranked. However, it appears this will change with Tuesday’s update, according to a Respawn developer.

On worlds edge I can certainly do that, if tourneys start running on KC tho we might run into some problems

Yeah I think you should have better luck on KC starting Tuesday..

One of TSM’s star players, Albralelie, was expressing his concern over future professional tournaments being played on Kings Canyon. Currently, the online events are played on World’s Edge, which has a much better loot pool.

Amid this back-and-forth of tweets, though, Josh Medina, an Apex Legends producer, confirmed changes are coming to Kings Canyon. We don’t know specifics as of yet, but this most likely means that the amount of common loot will be reduced. Also, we should see an increase in usable weaponry and a better variety of meds.

The update should arrive at 1:00 p.m. ET on April 7 for all Apex Legends players. Hopefully, Respawn does enough to return Kings Canyon back to its former glory.

Make sure to stay tuned to Daily Esports for more Apex Legends news.

Rocksmith’s DLC ends after 383 weeks

Rocksmith has run its course.

Ubisoft San Francisco announced on Friday that work on an unnamed new project means the studio must close down the guitar game’s DLC, after 383 weeks of releases comprising 1,570 songs.

“Although we will no longer be releasing new DLC, we still have weekly online content planned for Rocksmith fans,” the developers say. “The Rocksmith Dev Stream will continue (in a new format), along with some more surprises.”

Rocksmith, which launched in 2011, was updated as Rocksmith 2014 Edition in that year, and a remaster of that launched in 2016 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. The game uses a real guitar instead of a guitar-like controller, which allows players to learn and play along with their favorite songs.

For the unannounced new project, developers said more info on that would be coming via social media. In addition to Rocksmith, Ubisoft San Francisco developed 2017’s South Park: The Fractured but Whole.

Dignitas allow Huni to "explore other opportunities" ahead of LCS Summer Split

LCS franchise Dignitas might part ways with top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon before the 2020 Summer Split. The org tweeted Saturday, that they’ve allowed Huni to “explore other opportunities”, which often indicates some sort of roster change.

The tweet comes in stark contrast to the relationship Dignitas built with Huni during the 2019 off-season. As they prepared for their LCS return, Dignitas extended Huni’s contract with the club till 2021 while signing him to a $2.3M deal over two years, making him one of the best paid LCS players.

This reportedly left Dignitas without much capital to build the rest of the team, but the org nevertheless signed experienced names to the franchise, including mid laner Henrik “Froggen” Hansen and support Zaqueri “aphromoo” Black. At the same time, Dignitas lost Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme to Cloud9, where he became one of the key players to the team’s 17-1 run in the Spring Split.

The roster did not work well enough and Dignitas ultimately lost a tiebreaker match to Golden Guardians and were left out of playoffs contention. Huni himself had a rough season, ranking the lowest of all top laners in terms of KDA, [email protected], and [email protected]

As one of the most seasoned players in the LCS, however, Huni will likely find a new team quickly.

Fnatic beat Origen 3-1, move to face MAD Lions in winners bracket final

Fnatic edged out a 3-1 victory over Origen in Saturday evening’s LEC playoffs night. This guarantees Fnatic at least a top 3 finish, while Origen will drop down to the second round of the lower bracket, waiting for the winner of Misfits and Rogue tonight.

What many expected to be a close series ended anything but. Fnatic were dominant in the first games and sprinted to an easy 2-0 lead, looking to make it a clean sweep over Origen. In the third game, however, a poor showing from Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov on Trundle allowed Origen to rack up kill after kill and take stranglehold over the mid game.

In valiant attempt to redeem himself, Hylissang began split pushing Origen’s side lanes and even took down the bot lane inhibitor, significantly slowing down Origen’s chances of winning the game. For several minutes, it even looked like Fnatic could turn the game around somehow, as they successfully avoided direct engagements and played a guerrilla warfare League of Legends. Teamfights were so scarce, in fact, that Barney “Alphari” Morris’ Maokai was at one point involved in just four of Origen’s 24 kills.

When the first real 5v5 fight broke out, however, it was clear just how far ahead Origen’s players were. Fnatic were team-wiped and game 4 was on.

The first 25 minutes were all Origen once again, as Elias “Upset” Lipp’s Aphelios had secured five of the nine kills and had taken his team to a 4K gold lead. But by being timid and not forcing their advantage enough, Origen gave Fnatic the room to breathe and find the one teamfight that turned it all in their favor. A four-for-nil team fight at Baron pit melted Origen’s gold lead, surrendered the objective to Fnatic and ended the series at 3-1 in favor of the black jerseys.

This sets up the unlikely winners bracket final between MAD and Fnatic, the winner of which will be the first 2020 LEC Spring grand finalist. MAD shocked the world by taking down G2 Esports in five games, with three of their rookies showing up big for the win. Jungler Zhiqiang “Shad0w” Zhao is on everyone’s radar and the battle against Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek, who was instrumental to Fnatic’s win over Origen, shapes up to be a high-octane match-up.

The LEC continues tonight at 17:00 CEST with Misfits versus Rogue. The winner plays Origen on Friday, Apr. 10. The grand finals are set for Apr. 19.

Persona 5 Royal: Jose’s Flowers And Stamps Guide

One of the neatest— and perhaps most unexplained— additions to Persona 5 Royal is the mysterious little boy Jose. He’s not just a plot point (he’s not much of a plot point at all, actually), but the method in which Atlus has integrated the incredible fixes to your Mementos experience.

After you meet him on 5/7, he asks you to gather flowers and stamps for his ongoing study of the human heart, for which he’ll give you powerful items or upgrades in exchange. It might be tempting to simply ignore him, as he spawns randomly in Mementos instead of waiting in a specified place like a normal vendor— but rest assured, this will make your Mementos experience much more tedious than it has to be.

Flowers

After meeting Jose, the flowers that he wants will start spawning in Mementos alongside the treasures you can pick up. The amount that you pick up from each bubble depends on which level you’re on.

  • Path of Qimranut: 2 to 5
  • Path of Aiyatsubus: 3 to 6
  • Path of Chemdah: 4 to 7
  • Path of Kaitul: 5 to 8
  • Path of Akzeriyyuth: 6 to 9
  • Path of Adyeshach: 7 to 11
  • Path of Sheriruth: 9 to 13
  • Path of Da’at: 11 to 5

Jose offers a variety of items in exchange for the flowers and his catalogue expands as you progress further in the game.

Default:

  • Blank Card (15)
  • Dizzy Vial S (30)
  • Dizzy Vial L (40)
  • Sleep Vial S (30)
  • Sleep Vial L (40)
  • Confuse Vial S (65)
  • Confuse Vial L (70)
  • Fear Vial S (65)
  • Fear Vial L (70)
  • Forget Vial S (30)
  • Forget Vial L (40)
  • Brainwash Vial S (70)
  • Brainwash Vial L (90)
  • Despair Vial S (100)

After 6/4:

  • Soul Drop (15) | 5 per day, only until 6/4
  • Snuff Soul (75) | 2 per day, only until 8/20
  • Chewing Soul (170) | 1 per day, only after 9/2
  • Soul Food (450) | 1 per day, only after 11/25
  • Soma (520) | 1 per day, only after 12/24
  • Energy Kit S (80) | 2 per day, only until 8/20
  • Energy Kit L (210) | 1 per day, only after 9/2
  • Rasetsu’s Tag (70) | 5 per day, only after 9/2
  • Idaten’s Tag (70) | 5 per day, only after 9/2
  • Kongou’s Tag (70) | 5 per day, only after 9/2
  • Tier 1 persona incenses (80) | 1 per day each, only from 6/6 to 10/16
  • Tier 2 persona incenses (80) | 1 per day each, only after 10/30
  • Persona itemization ingredients (Black cloth, gun, stone, and kotagana) (30) | 1 per day each, only after 6/6
  • Will Seeds (400) | Sold after the corresponding palace’s destruction if you didn’t pick them up

Stamps

This is the main way that P5R has improved Mementos: by turning in collected stamps to Jose, you’re able to change the cognition of Mementos itself to affect how much money, experience, or items you receive.

You can find a stamp at the end of the platform of every floor, as well as spawning randomly behind doors or breakable walls. As there are more stamps to find in a single area than there are floors, the only way to collect them all is to retread the area until you’ve gathered them all. There are 165 collectable stamps total, and you can check how many stamps an area has by looking at the Mementos overview.

There are ten upgradable tiers each for experience, money, and items— items referring to how many things you pick up from each treasure node that spawns on the tracks. Each tier takes an incrementally increasing amount of stamps to unlock.

Experience:

  • 110% | 5
  • 120% | 5
  • 130% | 7
  • 140% | 7
  • 150% | 9
  • 160% | 9
  • 170% | 10
  • 180% | 10
  • 190% | 11
  • 200% | 12

Money:

  • 110% | 3
  • 120% | 4
  • 130% | 4
  • 140% | 5
  • 150% | 5
  • 160% | 6
  • 170% | 6
  • 180% | 7
  • 190% | 7
  • 200% | 7

Items:

  • 2 items | 1
  • 3 items | 2
  • 4 items | 2
  • 5 items | 3
  • 6 items | 3
  • 7 items | 4
  • 8 items | 4
  • 9 items | 5
  • 10 items | 5
  • 11 items | 5

You can reset the amount of stamps invested in each category by paying up some flowers. Note that it takes an increasing amount of flowers to reset higher tiers.

It’s also worth noting that these bonuses apply even when defeating shadows via the Insta-Kill ability from Chariot rank 7.

Persona 5 Royal: What Carries Over In NG+?

As with any good game that takes over 80 hours to finish, the first thing that Persona 5 Royal asks the player upon completion is: “Hey, congrats on finishing? Wanna do all that all over again, but at your pace?”

If your answer is “yes, please, thank you,” then make sure you’re prepared— there are only so many things that the game will let you carry into your second run. In order of the game’s NG+ notice, these include:

Persona

Persona Compendium

  • A small tip: log all the Strength confidant homework personae with the skills that the twins ask for, so you can easily buy, present, buy, present, and so on to max them out in one sitting.

Elemental affinity data in combat

  • Meaning, even if there are personae you didn’t acquire, the weaknesses and strengths you discovered from combating them will still show up. This only kicks in when you start the game in earnest, however— the affinities of the enemies during the tutorial runs in Kamoshida’s palace will still be hidden.

Stats

Social stats

  • No more suffering over the Big Bang Burger Challenge.

HP and SP increases gained from daily life activities

  • This means all the bonuses from training at home, the gym, or at the temple in Kichijoji, not from your level-ups.

Jazz Club cocktail effects

  • All your companions will retain their stat and HP/SP bonuses from all the times you took them to the Jazz Club— they just won’t keep the skills they learned from the Sunday cocktails.

Note: they don’t let you keep your level, so even if your level 99 personae keep you more powerful than most of the enemies you’ll be blasting through all over again, you’re not going to be invincible. More often than not, you might find yourself hurting for SP to use those high-level skills with until your actual level catches up.

Items

Equipment

  • All your weapons, armor, and accessories will stay with you. They won’t be automatically re-equipped, though, so don’t forget to hand them to your companions as you collect them all over again.

Gun customizations

  • You’ll have to re-do the Hanged Man confidant line to unlock all the customizations, but the ones you’ve already slapped onto the guns you have will remain.

Skill cards

  • Not only will all your skill cards stay with you, the game will remember what cards you have or have not asked Yusuke to copy— meaning, once you unlock his ability to draft up new skill cards (or have it from his max confidant gift), he’ll still be able to draw skill cards you’ve asked him to copy in your first run even if you don’t have them on you to copy.

Minigame equipment

  • This includes all the fishing rods you’ve bought as well as the specialty dart you can buy to help with the darts minigame. Interestingly, it doesn’t let you keep the Jump Cue you get for the billiards sidequest.

Eternal Lockpick

  • If you haven’t crafted this by the endgame, you should do so ASAP.

Earned money

  • Tip: make sure to grind at least 300,000 yen to bring into NG+ so you can buy back your overpowered personae whenever you need.

Key items

  • This includes all the items that unlock personae fusions as well as the confidant gifts you get during your very last round of goodbyes to everyone, which provide access to certain confidant perks before you unlock them all over again. Also, the christmas gift you get from your girlfriend (if any) will stay with you and provide bonuses to the confidant points you earn with them.

It’s worth noting that everything not mentioned here will disappear. Meaning, don’t hesitate to use up all the medicine you’ve got in the final battle! The only consumables that’ll stay with you are the friendship and romantic chocolates given to you by the girls during Valentines day.

Miscellaneous

Rewards from the Velvet Room Challenge Battles

  • This includes the accessories as well as the treasure items, if you haven’t already sold them off.

Mementos stamps collected

  • You won’t have to hunt these down all over again, though you will have to meet Jose and re-invest them to regain the bonus effects.
