Dota 2 Once Again Achieves Largest Single-Event Prize Pool in Esports History

The prize pool for Dota 2’s championship event The International 10 has become the largest single-event prize pool in esports history, generating $34.34M USD to date, surpassing TI9’s $34.33M. This continues Dota’s multi-year streak of not only offering the largest prize pool for a championship event, but consecutively surpassing its own record each year since 2013.

This year’s total still has an opportunity to add several millions to the current amount. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TI10 was delayed to a later date, and the Battle Pass (a purchasable bundle of in-game rewards and unlocks which contributes 25% of its proceeds to the TI prize pool) will remain available until Sept. 19. Additionally, Valve has set its sights on reaching $40M this year, announcing bonus rewards to all Battle Pass holders should the prize pool reach that figure by the deadline.
