Here are the groups for the third Minor of the 2019-2020 DPC.
Slowly but steadily, the Dota 2 community is preparing for the third Minor of the year. The StarLadder ImbaTV Minor will start on the fifth of March, which means that we are just a few days away from the action.
As you know, similar to any Minor before that, this one will gather eight of the best teams in the world. Apart from fighting for the lion’s share of the $300K USD prize pool, the teams will also compete for DPC points, as well as a spot for the Los Angeles Major that begins in just a few days later.
These eight teams are divided into two GSL-format groups of four teams each. Let’s take a look at them and see which team has the biggest chance of succeeding.
The teams that will compete here are Forze, Business Associates, Team Aster, and Boom Esports.
Even though some of you might not agree, we believe that Team Aster is definitely the strongest team here. The Chinese have had some pretty good results recently, which is why they shouldn’t have any problems here, especially in this group.
The second team that stands out is Boom Esports. You might remember them from the last DPC, where they were on fire for a couple of months. However, after the initial success, the SEA team slowly faded away. We can only hope that they will be able to rise from the ashes yet again and show their prowess. This group is definitely good for the young squad, so let’s see what will happen.
This group consists of Alliance, NoPing e-sports, Fighting PandaS, and Gambit Esports.
Saying that this group is definitely more interesting than the other one won’t be an understatement. For some reason, all of the favorites for this event are gathered here, which will make it very interesting to watch but also a bit sad because we will have to wave goodbye to some of the names here.
At first glance, the two names that stand out are Alliance and Gambit Esports. Both of those teams ended up here after very dramatic qualifiers where they’ve missed the slots for the LA Major. Despite that, they will have a chance to go there yet again if they succeed in this Major.
Even though Gambit played very well recently, we believe that Alliance is the best team in this competition. The post-TI 9 formed team has proven many times now that they have what it takes to win tournaments.
On the other hand, we have Fighting PandaS, a team that suffered heavy losses this week. In case you forgot, two of the team members – Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao and Jonathan Bryle “Bryle” Santos De Guia is decided to suddenly leave the team without any explanation. As a result, the NA squad had just a couple of days to find substitutes. Although some believed that they will just have to give up on their Minor slot, that didn’t happen. Instead, David “MoonMeander” Tan and co. added Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann and Oliver “skiter” Lepko.
This is going to be the first big challenge for FP after the changes, so it will be very interesting to see what will happen.
The Minor will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine but you can watch all the games on Twitch. Follow us on our social media accounts for more information about this amazing tournament.
