ESL One Los Angeles groups and opening schedule announced
With under a week to go until the ESL One Los Angeles 2020
Major gets underway, the organizers have announced the groups for the event and
the opening series schedule for the first two days of play.
ESL One Los Angeles 2020 is set to be the third Major stop
on the Dota 2 Pro Circuit for this season and with 16 of the best teams in the
world competing, it is bound to be an absolutely amazing tournament. Just a
short time before writing, ESL announced the opening series for each group and
therefore also confirmed which teams will be fighting it out in the tournament’s
opening days.
Group A
- Natus Vincere
- Royal Never Give Up
- Team Secret
- Thunder Predator
Opening series
- Team Secret versus Thunder Predator
- Royal Never Give Up versus Natus Vincere
With the winners of the previous Major, Team Secret, taking
a spot in Group A, things are going to be extremely tough for everyone else
going up against them. Considered possibly one of the best teams in the Dota 2
world right now, Secret have a very good chance of making an easy run through
the group stages.
Group B
- Chaos Esports Club
- Evil Geniuses
- Geek Fam
- OG
Opening series
- Evil Geniuses versus OG
- Chaos Esports Club versus Geek Fam
Having both the runners up from the previous Major, EG and
the two-time TI winning OG in one group is already massive, but with the two
teams going head-to-head in the opening series is definitely going to be even
bigger. This will be the first DPC event in which OG compete with their new
roster and it’s set to be intense – and that’s before we even mention the power
that Geek Fam have been showing lately.
Group C
- EHOME
- Fnatic
- Invictus Gaming
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
Opening series
- Invictus Gaming versus Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Fnatic versus EHOME
Both iG and Fnatic have been playing some amazing Dota 2
lately and, while the two teams do not face each other in the opening series,
they both have a chance to meet up and create some fireworks in their group.
Not counting out NiP and EHOME either, as these squads do have the ability to
cause some chaos and create some big upsets in LA.
Group D
- beastcoast
- Team Adroit
- Team Aster
- Virtus.pro
Opening series
- beastcoast versus Virtus.pro
- Team Aster versus Team Adroit
Group D is going to be really tough to breakdown, with Aster having just played a near perfect Minor, but the likes of beastcoast and Adroit also known to show pure class in recent events. For VP, this Major will be a big chance for the CIS squad to return to the upper echelons after failing to have any decent performances so far this season.
ESL One Los Angeles 2020 kicks of on Sunday March 15th
with Group A and B having their opening series before the remaining groups begin
on March 16th. With the huge tally of DPC points on the line for the
winning squad plus the $1,000,000 prize pool, you can be sure that every team
will be throwing everything that they can at their opponents.
