After an absolutely epic lower bracket final between EHOME
and Elephant, the grand finals of the China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 were set as
the victor went up against Team Aster.
The lower bracket final of the China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 between EHOME and Elephant was one of the craziest series to witness in the history of the game. While game one and two were a general run of the mill victories for each team, the final and decisive game of the series would go to over 80-minutes, with Elephant building up a gigantic net worth lead, which peaked at 145,000 at one point. With that, Elephant managed to take down and eliminate EHOME as they set themselves up to fight Team Aster in the grand finals for a chance at their first championship title.
Although Aster were having an amazing run at the event, they
had a few blemishes on their record, one of which was a loss to Elephant during
the group stage of the event. Going into the grand final today, it seemed as
though this was their mental block as game one saw them being run over by a
Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun Anti-Mage. Although there was a point when it seemed as
though Aster could make a comeback, it was not enough to quelle their opponent’s
threat as they went down 0-1 in the best-of-five series.
While Aster looked to finally find their footing in game
two, holding on to the net worth lead for most of the early to mid-game period,
they made the mistake of allowing Eurus to obtain his Drow Ranger, which
spelled disaster for them as things progressed. With Xu “fy” Linsen playing a
support Arc Warden, Elephant went up to a two game lead, poised to take the victory
in a clean sweep.
What would become the final game in the series saw Aster
having a solid early game period again, with Du “Monet” Peng’s Terrorblade
controlling the game and racing up to nine kills, leaving Elephant in the
lurch. However, as they begun to gain traction, Elephant quickly realized that
they could ignore the Terrorblade in fights, kiting away from him and ripping apart
the rest of Aster’s lineup. When they finally decided to take down Monet,
Elephant made an executive call to rush straight for the Ancient, realizing that
there was no buyback available for the Terrorblade and swiftly brough the
series to an end.
With that, all of Aster’s hard work throughout the event came crumbling down as Elephant would take a 3-0 victory at the China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2 grand final, becoming the champions of the event and winning their first tournament together. Heading forward we will see both teams, and many more, fight in the upcoming OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China in just a few days.
