Sports business agency SPORTFIVE announced that it had acquired Germany-based esports consulting and activation agency build a rocket to “grow its esports capabilities globally and to enhance its service offering along the entire value chain of consulting, partnership sales, and activation.” SPORTFIVE and build a rocket decided to not disclose the value of the acquisition.
Launched in 2016 by Alexander Albrecht and Tobias Heim, build a rocket will remain as an independent brand and obtain the endorsement title “A SPORTFIVE Company.” Albrecht and Heim will continue to serve as the agency’s managing directors and will report to Eike Gyllensvärd, executive vice president Global Esports Partnerships at SPORTFIVE. Like its leadership, the full existing build a rocket team of 15 employees will remain with the agency.
Following the acquisition, SPORTFIVE’s esports consulting and activation services will be delivered through build a rocket going forward. Partnerships and activations the two agencies have worked on previously include KitKat and Tchibo in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), DKB in the Prime League, and advisory on an esports strategy for SAP.
