After some unconfirmed reports last week, the London Royal Ravens made an official announcement today regarding their roster. For 2021, the EU squad will be fielding an almost entirely new roster of players. The only exception is Sean “Seany” O’Connor, who will stay in London as the lone member from the 2020 roster. This wasn’t fully expected from the Royal Ravens, as many predicted that a few of the players would negotiate new contracts. However, seven players will now look for new homes in the 2021 CDL season.
A new roster for the London Royal Ravens
It seems that most of the Call of Duty League rosters from 2020 are following the same approach. That approach is essentially releasing the entire 2020 roster with the exception of one player. The Seattle Surge left Sam “Octane” Larew, the Los Angeles Guerrillas left Reece “Vivid” Drost, etc.
The London Royal Ravens became the latest organization to follow this path. Earlier today, the team announced that it has released the following players, making them unrestricted free agents.
As previously mentioned, only Seany is staying on board, as well as the head coach, Joseph “Joee” Pinnington.
Last week, when both Skrapz and Wuskinz said they were free agents, many thought this was simply a contract negotiation. After all, the London roster was full of top EU players, which seemed like a dream come true. However, it seems the movement in the Call of Duty League has made London go another way.
There’s expected to be a wide range of high-profile players available to sign when Free Agency begins on September 14. However, the London Royal Ravens could be kicking themselves in a week’s time if they don’t get who they want. They had a pretty solid squad in 2020, which placed them fourth at COD Champs. It will be tough to replicate that performance.
