Animal Crossing New Horizons has sold tens of millions of copies since launching at the start of the pandemic.

Considering its popularity, it’s surprising that fans haven’t been treated to any paid DLC… until now.

Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise is available as an expansion to New Horizons on Nintendo Switch.

The Happy Home Paradise DLC has a November 5 release date, and a midnight launch time in each region.

Animal Crossing’s DLC has a hefty price tag of £22.49, although it can be yours for free if you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

The newly released subscription tier gives Nintendo Switch owners the ability to play games online with other people.

Subscribers can also play NES, SNES, Sega Mega Drive and Nintendo 64 games on Switch. You’ll also receive the Animal Crossing DLC, although you need to own the base game.

A Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription costs £34.99 for 12 months of access.

The new Animal Crossing DLC launches alongside a new update, which can be downloaded right now.

Animal Crossing New Horizons update 2.0 adds a host of new features, separate from the DLC.

According to the patch notes, this includes the Island Ordinances, additional storage for your home, plus Kapp’n’s boat tours.

Needless to say, the update also lays the foundations for the Happy Home Paradise DLC, so you’ll need to download the patch before you start playing.

Happy Home Paradise gives players the chance to design holiday homes for some of the island’s residents.

“Get creative and help design dream vacation homes for many of your favourite island residents in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, available as paid downloadable content for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

With the DLC installed, players will join Lottie’s Paradise Planning team, where you can choose jobs and design homes based on your client’s wishes.

“Pick the island you want to build on, then design everything to create a home that’ll make the client happy.

“Place furniture to suit the theme, decorate both inside and out, change the season, time of day and more. The more homes you create, the more clients you’ll find are looking for your services!”

Players will also be able to transform vacant buildings into hospitals, schools and other essential properties.
