Apex Legends Event Countdown – Update 3:
Apex Legend fans will no doubt know that today's new event will add a new heirloom item to the game and it's one that Octane players are going to love.
But up until now we've not had a great look at it, or indeed Octane's new skin. But we've just stumbled across some new images ahead of the event going live.
We're not too sure where they were released but they are certainly official and in glorious HD so you can make out every detail.
Take a look at Octane's new look just below, it's a thing of beauty.
Apex Legends Event Countdown – Update 2:
There's still some hours to go until the release of Apex Legends next event, but that means you've got plenty of time to work out which of the eight new skins you want to get your hands on.
Whether you main Revenant or Bloodhound, Bangalore or Cypto, there's plenty of new skins to go around.
Except if you play as Lifeline, Wattson or Wraith, who seem to have missed out this time around.
But those with a love of Mirage, Caustic or Gibraltar need not worry.
There's even two new Legendary skins in the form of Pathfinder's Plastic Fantastic skin and Gibraltar's Gibraltron skin.
Want a closer look? Dont bother watching the trailer, because it will flash before your eyes.
Have a look at the gallery below, instead, which should give you a clearer look at these new skins you'll be desperate to unlock when the System Override event starts later today.

Apex Legends Event Countdown – Update 1:
Ahead of the new event going live later today, EA and Respawn have announced when what we can expect to see changed once the update goes live.
In an odd move, the publisher and developer have between them announced the full patch notes almost a whole day before the update is rolled out.
The System Override event patch notes can be viewed in full at the link, but the most important things to note are some buffs and nerfs coming to some of the heroes (most notably Bloodhound, Gibraltar and Crypto).

ORIGINAL STORY
Apex Legends gets its next event very soon, and it's coming in hot with some pretty impressive features.
"Drop in for new modes, old maps, Legendary Weapon skins, cybernetic cosmetics and more" EA and Respawn tease in a short blurb for the event.
The Apex Legends System Override event starts on March 3 and will last two weeks, coming to a close on March 17.
The biggest draw of this fancy new event is a mode called "Deja Loot", in which Respawn is making loot spawns permanent – that means if you know where the gold items spawn, or where the best weapons are located… they'll be there every game. Only the dropship path and ring locations will vary.
It's going to get intense.
Here's everything you need to know about the incoming event.
Apex Legends System Override Collection – Start time
System Override Collection kicks off on March 3, and if we look at past examples of Respawn events, we can assume it'll all start up at around 6pm GMT.
The event will take place on two separate maps over its running time:
• March 3-9: World's Edge
• March 10-17: King's Canyon
There have been issues with EA servers over the last few weeks, so if you're super keen to get started in this event, bear in mind that we may see some wobbles as the servers take on the weight of all the eager gamers coming in to play the new mode.
The event will run until March 17, at 6pm GMT.
We may see more features or mini-events added to the game in that time – Respawn likes to keep players on their toes.
Apex Legends System Override Collection – What's new?
This being a 'Collection' event, there is plenty of new cosmetic dressing being added to the game.
Players can expect System Override Collection to inject Apex Legends with tons of new rare, epic, and legendary rewards to earn and buy.
We're also get new equipment.
"As part of the Deja Loot limited-time mode we’ll be debuting a new equipment type: the Evo Shield," EA has confirmed.
"When you pick up Evo Shield it will start out weaker than a Common Body Shield (White), but as you do damage to non-downed players throughout the match it can become even stronger than Epic Body Shields (Purple).
"Evo Shields change color as they progress, but their perpetual distinctive glow will help you identify them. Progress also carries over from person to person, so look forward to some interesting late game scenarios."
Additionally, EA and Respawn introduced the Prize Track progression in the previous big event, Grand Soiree Arcade, and it'll reappear here, too – basically, it allows you to earn rewards by completing challenges during the event.
And you'll need all the help you can get to unlock the 24 limited time cosmetics that'll be introduced as part of the event.
Apex Legends System Override Collection – Octane heirloom
If you manage to unlock or craft (God willing!) all 24 pieces of gear that are added in the event, you'll unlock Octane's heirloom item – a butterfly switch-blade/stim syringe.
Interestingly enough, this new item confrims two things for us.
Firstly, Octane uses the Stim 'recreationally' – that is to say, when he examines his heirloom, he takes a hit of Stim, and it doesn't do anything to him in-game. He's just doing it for fun.
Secondly, as of this event, heirlooms work differently now.
"We’re changing up the Heirloom system to make it easier for you to acquire the heirloom you want," Respawn notes on its blog.
"Instead of an entire Heirloom set dropping at once, you’ll now receive Heirloom shards. You can then use those shards to pick the exact Heirloom set you’d like. The shards will have the same drop rate as the previous system, so that after 500 Apex Packs, you will have enough Heirloom Shards to obtain an Heirloom set from the Heirloom shop.
"And don’t worry, your existing progress towards the 500 Apex Packs will carry over with the switch. Remember that once a player owns all of the Heirloom sets, the player will not be eligible to receive more shards until more Heirloom Sets are added to the game."
