The Battlefield 2042 early access release date is scheduled for this week across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms, with EA providing plenty of ways to test out the game early.
Fans inpatient to drop into the future hellscape can do so by pre-ordering Gold or Ultimate Editions of the game or by having EA Play.
If you have EA Play via Xbox Game Pass or an active subscription, you can play a ten-hour trial of the game before its official release date later in November.
Those who splash that extra cash on a fancy version of BR2042 get to start playing as soon as things kick off later this week and servers are live.
The good news is that everyone will be able to preload the game before all this happens, meaning there won’t be substantial download queues on launch day.
Downloading the game across all platforms has begun starting today, although it might not be possible for those preparing to use the ten-hour trial via EA Play.
WHAT TIME DOES BATTLEFIELD 2042 EARLY ACCESS START?
EA has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 early access will start at 8am GMT on Friday, November 12, 2021 for PC players.
That means gamers using Steam, Origin and EA’s Beta App who have pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate Version.
Over on console, Battlefield 2042 early access starts on Xbox and PlayStation at 0:01am on November 12 at local time.
From what has been shared so far, the Battlefield 2042 EA Play Trial will begin at the same time on each platform.
The game weighs in differently on each platform but gamers should be prepared to find at least 90GB of space on their console or PC.
Battlefield 6: EA release teaser for ‘next generation technology’
EA Play is available across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X platforms, with a version of EA Play also available on PC.
EA Play Pro costs more but will include full access to the game without the time limit put in place on console.
Meanwhile, owning Xbox Game Pass Ultimate makes it possible to play the EA Play early access trial on Xbox and PC.
Everyone who has bought the base version of the game will have to wait until November 19 to play and that covers all platforms.
And as always, those who get a physical copy of the game will be able to play online whenever servers are available in your region.
A big draw for a lot of players will be having access to Battlefield Portal, a new mode that provides access to former games, as well as the ability to build new experiences.
“Starting at launch, we’ll have default experiences live in-game that allow you to relive these classic maps, alongside their classic factions, equipped with the weapons, gadgets, and classes that brought them to life.
“Within Battlefield Portal, you’ll be able to jump right into those modes from inside the game, or if you prefer, you can use these experiences as starting points that you can edit to create something more personal.
“You can make simple edits to weapon loadouts, tag in more maps to the rotation, or you can start to tweak things as finely detailed as bullet velocity, health regen rates, and if a player takes more damage when they’re hit in the head, or to the torso.”
The final release date for all versions of Battlefield 2042 has been set for November 19, 2021.
