Borderlands 3 Steam Release Time and price cuts for Deluxe Editions

The Borderlands 3 release date is finally upon us and very soon you'll be able to play Gearbox's latest shooter on PC through Steam.

The game was a huge success on console and surprisingly on Epic Games Store too, where it was an exclusive for six months.

In fact, according to Gearbox, it sold an estimated two million copies, with 2K suggesting it was the highest-selling title for the label on PC in a five-day window.

But hopefully, with the release on Steam the game will generate an even bigger fanbase.

And thanks to some clever magic, the game is able to harness the power of PC Cross-Play to allow you to join forces with other PC players regardless of PC platform.

It's as good a time as ever to jump into the game as well, with the second DLC, named, Guns, Love, and Tentacles, launching March 26th.

For the time being, you'll have the main campaign to play (more on that further down) as well as the first dlc, Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot.

What is the Borderlands 3 Steam Start Time?

Gearbox and 2K Games have confirmed a release time for Borderlands 3 on Steam as 15:00 GMT on March 13th.

If you're trying to play the game elsewhere, say over the pond, that Steam start time is 07:00 PST and 10:00 EST.

If you're preloading the game, you'll be able to crack on with the game as soon as your download has completed provided the time has past 15:00 GMT on March 13th.

How does Borderlands 3 Crossplay work on PC between Steam and the Epic Games Store?

Here's the key info as explained by a Gearbox FAQ ahead of the game going live on Steam:

When launching Borderlands 3 for the first time on Steam, and on Epic after installing a new patch, you'll be greeted by a "PC Cross-Play" screen and the option to enable or disable this feature. A pre-existing SHiFT account is not required to participate in Cross-Play.

Enabling PC Cross-Play lets you join game sessions with players on Steam or Epic Game Store through Matchmaking and Game Invites. Disabling this feature will restrict you to playing with other people on the same PC platform as you. You can choose to enable or disable this feature at any time via the Options menu, under the General section of the Network & Social menu.

Regardless of whether you chose to enable or disable PC Cross-Play, you'll be prompted to set a PC Cross-Play Display Name, which is required for the new SHiFT Matchmaking functionality. Your PC Cross-Play Display Name must meet the following requirements:

Must be a unique name not already in use by another Borderlands 3 player
Must be between 3-16 characters long
Must start with a letter, and is limited to a-z, A-Z, 0-9, or non-consecutive underscore, hyphen, or period/full-stop characters

Yes, you can transfer Borderlands 3 save files between Steam and Epic Games Store.

But, there is some important details to know beforehand.
