Call of Duty Modern Warfare servers down as error Code 656448 hits

Call of Duty Modern Warfare gamers servers struggling this evening with problems reported regarding the games online connectivity.

More specifically it appears players across the game are experiencing error code 656448.

This is tied to the game being unable to fetch online profiles for players.

There are also reported problems with the game as players report challenges not giving out XP.

That being said, the game is still working, at least to some degree, but not for everyone, as these following comments prove:

"Im getting an error saying I’ve been disconnected from call of duty modern warfare servers with the error code 656448. Anyone else get this? Please fix this soon" One user wrote on Twitter.

Another added: "Can't even load mine up, error 656448, hangs on the fetching online profile page for ages then gives the error code above."

Whilst a third tried tweeting the Activision support account, @ATVIAssist , writing: "Every time I try to log into CoD MW, it gets to the "Fetching Online Profile" screen, then inevitably disconnects me from online services with "Error Code 656448". Is something up with the servers? How do I get around this, if not?

Activision is aware of the issues and looks to be trying to fix the error code with the game as soon as possible.

"We’re currently tracking an issue where XP is not being awarded after matches. Our teams are investigating and we’ll provide another update when we have more information. Thank you for your patience." a message from the Activision Infinity Ward Twitter account told fans earlier this evening.

In addition, the Infinity Ward Twitter account also told fans:

However, this was 6 hours ago and as of 4 hours ago the most recent update read:

"We’re still investigating and working on a fix for this issue. We’ll keep you updated and thank you again for your patience."

So, it doesn't seem like there's any end in sight for the problems, for now.

More to follow.
