Call Of Duty: Warzone bunkers are finally open and they’re full of… secrets

The bunkers in Warzone’s Verdansk have been unlocked but although that means lots of loot there’s also plenty of new mysteries too.

Start your conspiracy theories now because even though you can finally access the bunkers in Verdansk, it’s clear that Call Of Duty: Warzone has still got more secrets to reveal.

To enter the bunkers is surprisingly simple in the end, you just need the red access card that was added a couple of updates back as rare loot and which has previously done nothing but is now suddenly working.

With that you can enter the bunkers and make off with all the high-tier loot inside… and then wonder how you get into the other locked doors.

Considering how long this mystery has been going, it’ll probably be a long time until anyone works out how to get into the new doors, if they even work at all.

Although the working access card was not mentioned in the latest patch notes they did end with the follow odd message: ‘Number station <redacted> is Protocol Yellow. Activate <redacted> system. <redacted> is inbound. Awaiting correct authorization’.

This sounds a lot like the number stations from Black Ops and at the same time telephones on the map have started spouting messages in Russian, which definitely sounds like a connection.

In a recent interview, developer Infinity Ward implied there was much more to Verdansk than just some closed doors, as well suggesting that Warzone would connect to all future Call Of Duty games – perhaps including this year’s much-rumoured new Black Ops game.

‘They have found clues, and that there is more than meets the eye in this city. Season 4 will unravel some of those mysteries and unlock some of them for our players’, said Infinity Ward’s Taylor Kurosaki.

That suggests there probably won’t be any more revelations until Season 4 begins, which is due to start on Tuesday, 26 May. Or at least that’s the current assumption – it may be that it’s slightly delayed because of the coronavirus.

Update: Almost disappointingly, some of the new secrets have already been solved, albeit by cheating and clipping through one of the locked doors to discover… a nuclear warhead!

Presumably there’ll be a proper way to gain access later on but dataminers have discovered references that suggest it is ‘coreless’.

They’ve also discovered models for the RC-XD remote-control explosive toy car and a U-2 spy plane, which only adds more fuel to rumours about a Black Ops connection, as the U-2 is long out of service from the perspective of the modern day.
