Codemasters revealed DIRT 5 would be coming to the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC (via Steam) with a release date set for October 2020 back in May.
The game, which will also release on the current generation of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles and arrive on Google Stadia early 2021, has seen a slight delay in its release plans, though.
"Dirt 5 will now launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 16, with three days’ early access (Oct 13) for Amplified Edition players," developer Codemasters announced via Twitter earlier today.
"Thank you for all your support and excitement so far – we still have so much more to show you." The game was originally supposed to launch on October 9.
The next-gen version of the game is still also in development, and will arrive as a free upgrade for anyone that purchases the current-gen version of the game, too.
"DIRT 5’s global journey takes in some of the most thrilling, exotic, and picturesque settings such as New York City and Rio de Janeiro alongside challenging events in remote areas of Greece and China", Codemasters says of the game.
"Players will experience the thrill of in-your-face extreme racing in a variety of vehicle classes from buggies, unlimited trucks, and rock bouncers to traditional and modern rally cars."
DIRT 5 heralds the return of split-screen for up to four players – something that fans have been very vocal about wanting to return in the next instalment of the series.
The full list of game modes will be announced shortly, including a new game mode focused on creativity and designed for social couch play with friends or global online battles against the best racers in the DIRT universe.
Dirt 5 will now launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 16.
