Edgar Ramirez To Play Atlas Corporation CEO In Upcoming Borderlands Film

The Borderlands film has officially added Edgar Ramirez to its star-studded cast list, which includes names such as Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart. Ramirez will play the role of Deukalian Atlas – founder and CEO of the Atlas Corporation.

Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox, shared the news early this morning on Twitter. “In the Borderlands film in production with Lionsgate and Arad Productions, Edgar Ramirez will play the role of Deukalian Atlas, the Founder, and CEO of the Atlas Corporation.”

Atlas’ weapons company is front and center throughout most of the Borderlands series. Its products are heavily featured across all three installments of the franchise, providing you with an arsenal of ridiculous firearms to tear through the legion of foes standing in your path.

“What an incredible honor to have an actor of Edgar’s caliber, talent, and charisma playing opposite Cate Blanchett and this remarkable cast,” said Eli Roth, director of the upcoming film. “Atlas has to be a truly magnetic personality, someone with charisma and charm but that air of menace underneath it all. I’ve been a fan of Edgar’s since his early performances and he continues to amaze me with each dramatic turn. We want to create something wild, fun, and very different from anything they’ve seen from Edgar before. I am so, so excited to work with him.”

Ramirez previously appeared in films such as Gold, Point Break, Deliver Us from Evil, and Domino. He also played a role in American Crime Story as Gianni Versace.

The upcoming Borderlands movie has been building an impressive cast list through the early months of 2021, having added Jack Black and Jamie Lee Curtis in February and Kevin Hart in January. Black will play the annoying – or adorable? – Claptrap, Curtis will play Patricia Tannis, and Hart is stepping into the shoes of Roland.

The Borderlands film does not yet have a release date.
