Sony has already started the mainstream marketing for the PlayStation 5, as ads are spotted on TV and at UEFA and NHL matches.

The marketing blitz for the PlayStation 5 has officially begun in Europe and the US and yet still it doesn’t reveal any new information that we didn’t already know.

The TV ad leaked out earlier in the day via PlayStation Hungary’s YouTube channel but is now live for everyone, although it’s unclear whether that was always the plan or a reaction to the leak.

The ad doesn’t appear to feature any specific games but instead shows off the features of the DualSense controller, including its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

There’s also a new article about the controller’s features on the PlayStation Blog but no hint as to when more information will be released about the console, even though rumours suggest Sony is planning something this month.

If they’re running TV ads already then that certainly removes any lingering doubts that the console may be delayed, especially after Microsoft confirmed the Xbox Series X would be out sometime in November.

Fans have also noticed references to the PlayStation 5 appearing at sports events around the world, including UEFA football matches and NHL hockey in North America.

It’s easy to forget that while gamers have been obsessing for months over every little leak and rumour about the next gen most ordinary people have no idea that the new consoles are about to be released – so these ads will be the first time many ever hear about the PlayStation 5.
