HBO’s The Last Of Us Red Carpet Event Will Take Place January 9, 2023
The live action adaptation of The Last of Us by HBO is apparently going to be premiering on January 9, 2023 in the neighborhood of Los Angeles, California known as Westwood. This highly anticipated show has been slowly revealed to fans of the franchise through a series of teasers and trailers over the course of this past year.
The news comes from the industry watcher going by the name of HBOsTheLastofUs on Twitter. The account is described as covering “discussions, news, and updates about the television series.” HBOsTheLastofUs on the other hand is explicitly “not affiliated with HBO,” consisting of a “collaborative fan community reporting production status.”
According to HBOsTheLastofUs, “there will be The Last of Us Red Carpet and World Premiere on January 9, 2023 in Westwood, Los Angeles.” The actual show is going to be airing on the streaming service HBO Max beginning on January 15, 2023.
This comes in the wake of news that Ashley Johnson could be assuming the role of Ellie’s mom Anna in the upcoming television series, based on a scene from a recently released trailer. This was in fact a popular fan theory, but at least until a couple of weeks ago, there was very little in the way of confirmation.
The voice actors who played Joel and Ellie in the game, Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, were previously revealed to be assuming undisclosed roles in the show, something which led to speculation about which characters they could be playing, fans of the franchise naturally expecting Johnson to be taking on the role of Anna. This fan theory was given credence by one of the final trailers for the show in which someone who looks a lot like Johnson can be seen holding a baby.
