Bloober Team, the developer of Layers of Fear and Blair Witch, has entered into a new partnership with developer and publisher Konami, the two companies announced on Wednesday.
In a statement about the partnership, Bloober Team explained that the two companies will share information and technology, and more importantly, they’ll work on jointly developing certain projects. Polygon has reached out to both companies for further comment about these projects but did not receive an immediate response.
While the details of the partnership remain somewhat vague, Silent Hill fans have begun to speculate about whether the two companies will revive the series. Bloober Team’s focus has always been centered in the horror genre, and Konami isn’t doing much with Silent Hill at the moment — or any of its other franchises, but that seems to be beside the point. Apparently, Silent Hill fans had already envisioned a connection between Konami’s legendary horror series and Bloober Team, as “Silent Hill” started trending on Twitter shortly after the partnership was announced.
Bloober Team’s last project was this year’s The Medium, a horror game that allowed players to switch perspectives and dive into a spirit realm. Meanwhile, the Konami’s Silent Hill series has been absent since the release of 2014’s P.T., which was intended to be a demo for a game called Silent Hills that got cancelled a year later.
