Kirby Fans Are Translating The Forgotten Land’s Building And Signs

Kirby fans are translating the signs and buildings within Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Beyond making the move to 3D, one of the most unique things about Kirby and the Forgotten Land is that its world looks like it takes a lot of inspiration from Earth. Nowhere is this more apparent than with the signage and buildings located throughout the levels, which all hint towards some kind of civilisation that lived there before. You're out of luck if you want to see what those signs are telling you, though, as they're all written in a made-up language.

When there's a made-up language, there's going to be a cypher made that lets you read it, though, and that's exactly what Kirby fans have done with the Forgotten Land. Ever since the initial release of the demo, the Kirby community has managed to put together a cypher that gives us every letter of the alphabet.

Reddit user PromiseMeStars has taken that cypher and is using it to translate the signage, posters, and buildings throughout the world of the Forgotten Land. So far they've just managed to do the first few levels of the first world, and have discovered a few cool details.

Going through the Alivel Mall level, some of the signage reads "anniversary sale", "combo deal", and "big sale", further pushing the idea that this was a world inhabited by some kind of humanoids. Who else would be so corporate?

For something a little more concrete and less about background detail, PromiseMeStars found posters for "Holine Corp", which is also referenced in the "Car-Shop Sign" capsule toy. As a nice extra detail, the signage actually links up with the language. Another cute detail is that the sign found in Wondaria Remains reads, "Wish you were here!".

Regarding the translation, PromiseMeStars said, "I realize these are nothing groundbreaking lore-wise and if you have a cipher easily do-able yourself, but I love doing stuff like this and wanted to share."

So far, nothing too ground-breaking has been found within Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but it's likely to get more interesting as PromiseMeStars gets further into the game.
