Magic: The Gathering MMORPG Magic: Legends Is Getting An Open Beta On March 23

Magic: The Gathering is about to enter the MMORPG space thanks to a new, free-to-play game in development at Cryptic Studios. Publisher Perfect World Entertainment announced that the upcoming game, Magic: Legends, will receive an open beta for PC players in March.

Inspired by the popular card game, Magic: Legends is a hack-and-slash online action-RPG that takes place in the world of Magic: The Gathering. You take on the role of a Planeswalker, a powerful spellcaster who can travel between worlds. As you explore different areas, you will collect a range of spells to use on the field as you save the multiverse from ancient forces. You will also collect various artifacts and spell pages for upgrading your spells.

Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment recently revealed that a Magic: Legends open beta will be made available for new players to try. Starting in March, millions of players can explore the Magic multiverse in Magic: Legends. Cryptic Studios executive producer Stephen Ricossa shared his excitement over the developer’s latest project. “It’s hard to believe we’re finally opening the gates to the Multiverse to all gamers and Magic fans,” Ricossa said in a statement. “Over the last year, the development team has been working non-stop to bring this legendary card game to life. We want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated in our Closed Alpha tests for providing the feedback we needed to help evolve Magic: Legends into what it is today.”

Perfect World CEO Yoon Im also expressed his joy about how the game will appeal to fans of the card game and action-RPG lovers alike. “The chorus of gamers eager to join Magic: Legends’ beta has been both exciting and humbling to us all,” Im said. “We are thrilled to finally announce that both Magic and ARPG fans will get to explore the Magic: The Gathering world we’ve brought to life and ignite their Spark this Spring.”

The open beta for Magic: Legends will be available for PC via the Arc Games website from March 23. The game is due to officially launch on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 later this year.
