Just before 9am UK time today (Wednesday July 14) the PS5 became available to buy once again at Amazon UK. Unlike previous restocks, Amazon opted for something quite different with its latest batch of PlayStation 5 consoles. The PS5 Disc consoles that became available to buy this morning were exclusively for Amazon Prime customers who received “priority” access.

The move was heralded as a way to stamp out the threat of scalper or bots, which have been a persistent thorn in PlayStation fans’ sides since the PS5 launched last November.

The @PS5UKStock Twitter posted: “THIS IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER AMAZON PS5 DROP.

“Making this exclusive for Prime members has blocked the scalping bots and it’s still available to buy for us folk. It’s about time @AmazonUK, good job.

“Buh-bye, scalpers”.

And this new tact seemed to have done the trick, with the latest Amazon UK restock sticking around for plenty of time.

Tweeting about the latest Amazon PS5 restock, the @UKPS5Notify Twitter earlier this morning posted: “Still in stock nearly 20 minutes later”.

It had been thought the PS5 Digital console would become available to buy around the same time as the PS5 Disc console at Amazon UK today.

But, at the time of writing, the PS5 Digital console hasn’t become available to buy just yet today.

The @PS5UKStock Twitter posted: “We’re still waiting on Digital everyone. It’s unusual to be this late but the Disc drop was unusually long. Digital has dropped across Europe, which is also a good sign it is coming.

“I’m here checking though, stay tuned.”

And according to the @PS5Instant account, the PS5 Digital console could become available to buy at Amazon UK on a separate date.

That’s the bad news. The good news is the stock tracker said the latest Amazon shipment is “huge”, which made it difficult to ship it all at once.

The @PS5Instant Twitter posted: “Didnt manage to get a #PS5 ? don’t worry. #PS5Stock on the way soon.

“Amazon will drop Digital at another date as this shipment was huge ~ difficult to ship so much at once”.

Elsewhere, besides the Amazon PS5 restock other UK retailers could be opening orders for the PlayStation 5 once again this week.

The @PS5UKStock Twitter has predicted ASDA, Very and Smyths Toys could also be taking orders for the PS5 once again in the coming days.
