Netflix Teases Its Live Action Resident Evil Series

Netflix has revealed a teaser for its upcoming live action Resident Evil series. The new series is coming soon to Netflix and according to the show's synopsis will feature the Wesker kids as they uncover secrets in New Raccoon City.

The teaser shows off Cerberus, the zombie dog that has become synonymous with the Resident Evil series, against a black backdrop padding towards the camera. The official logo for the forthcoming show is also shown.

The video was posted to the series' official Instagram account before being taken down. The video was saved by fans and is being shared on Twitter, however. The Neflix Resident Evil Instagram account has since replaced the video with a series of still images from the short video.

In July, Netflix released the exclusive animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, which featured an outbreak of zombies at the White House. "Years after the horrors of Raccoon City, Leon and Claire find themselves consumed by a dark conspiracy when a viral attack ravages the White House," reads the Neflix description for the show. The CGI series was essentially a movie split into four parts, running to 105 minutes in total. Japanese studio TMS Entertainment (Akira, Lupin the Third, Little Nemo) produced Infinite Darkness, with animation handled by Japanese studio Quebico.

The new series is live action, however, so will see real-life actors facing off against the terrors the Resident Evil series is known for. The live action adaptation is being produced by German studio Constantin Film, who are also responsible for the recently released Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.

Welcome to Raccoon City is a reboot of the Resident Evil film series and revolves around an origin story that is more faithful to the first two video game stories in Capcom's survival horror series. The movie is currently in cinemas.

The forthcoming series focuses on younger protagonists. "When the Wesker kids move to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover might just be the end of everything," reads the Netflix synopsis. Albert Wesker, of course, is one of the main antagonists in the Resident Evil games.
