Warner Bros. has decided to close out 2021 with a surprise Batman trailer. Titled "The Bat and the Cat," the latest trailer focuses on Bruce Wayne's relationship with Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman. And it also reveals how The Caped Crusader is really more of a cat person than a dog person.
At one point, Batman finds himself in Selina's apartment where he discovers that Catwoman is an apt description. Surrounded by Selina's three cats, Batman blithely comments, "you got a lot of cats."
"I have a thing about strays," Catwoman replies.
Catwoman and Batman exchange blows in the first part of the trailer, but the violence apparently hides some tension between both masked vigilantes.
Unlike previous trailers, this one only showcases a single villain. Paul Dano will play Edward Nashton, also known as The Riddler. Although he won't be wearing a green suit, The Riddler is still all about question marks and rhyming inquiries, and also how he knows the secret identity of Batman.
We'll have to wait until March 4 to find out just how The Riddler figured out who Bruce Wayne moonlights as.
If you want a good close-in look at the new Catwoman and Batman costumes, Empire Magazine's latest cover showcases both in blue and red light. Catwoman's traditional tight leather suit seems largely unchanged, but Batman's new costume seems to be a bit of a departure from the overly muscled look of previous Batman and Justice League films.
We recently found out that Barry Keoghan will also star in The Batman alongside Robert Patterson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Keoghan will apparently play officer Stanley Merkel, according to IMDB.com, but there are rumors that Keoghan might actually be playing the Joker. If that's true, he'd be the fourth Batman villain to appear in the film.
