Following months of rumours, Horizon Zero Dawn has been officially announced for PC.
The blockbuster exclusive had been tipped for a PC release after various leaks appeared online.
PlayStation Worldwide Studios boss Hermen Hulst confirmed the news in a recent post on the PlayStation Blog.
Best of all is that fans won’t have to wait very long for the port, which has been given an unspecified summer release date.
Asked if the Horizon Zero Dawn PC rumours were true, Hulst said: “Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…
“There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.
“I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.”
Some fans aren’t happy about the news, despite Hulst explaining that not all PlayStation exclusives would be given the same treatment.
“And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC,” he continued.
“In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance.
“We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”
Despite his assurances, some fans took to the comments section to vent their disappointment. Some called for transparency, others argue it will hurt the PlayStation brand, while one fan said the news was “very sad”.
“Please be transparent,” reads one of the comments. “Bring all to PC and not hide behind the ‘only on playstation’ so many games with this label are coming to pc already.
“Be open and say what games you’re bringing. I swear I buy every game of you on PC. But I don’t want do get a ps5 of they’re coming. Just clarifies. You will have my money anyways: )”
Another believed it will hurt the PS5: “Sony is planning to fail with the PS5 and their software sales. Good job, Herman.”
“Experience Aloy of the Nora’s entire legendary quest to unravel the mysteries of a world ruled by deadly Machines,” reads the Horizon Zero Dawn description.
“An outcast from her tribe, the young hunter fights to uncover her past, discover her destiny… and stop a catastrophic threat to the future.
“Unleash devastating, tactical attacks against unique Machines and rival tribes as you explore an open wold teeming with wildlife and danger.
“Horizon Zero Dawn is a multi-award-winning action role-playing game – and this Complete Edition includes the huge expansion The Frozen Wilds, featuring new lands, skills, weapons and Machines.”
