A new wave of PS5 consoles is about to make its way into UK stores, including GAME, thanks to a special airlift organised by Sony.
Christmas is getting closer and closer and the PlayStation 5 is still very difficult to get hold of, so Sony has gone a step further than usual and organised an airlift of new stock, involving three Boeing 747 jets flying in from factories in South Korea.
According to The Sun, each plane had enough consoles to need 12 articulated lorries and 50 pallets, to transport them from Heathrow to distribution centres around the country.
Air freight is much more expensive than sending stock by sea, but Sony did it before for the launch of the PlayStation 5 last year and apparently has plans for two more flights this month.
All retailers should benefit from the new delivery but stock checker PS5 Stock UK points out that the GAME bundle page has already been updated to a release date of November 19.
That suggests an online restock of somewhere between November 9 and 11 next week, with more precise predictions likely to be possible nearer the time.
The only downside to using air freight is that when Sony switch back to just sea containers there’ll likely be a longer gap than usual with the first shipment of 2022.
Hopefully that won’t matter though, as while you still won’t be able to walk into a shop and pick one up off a shelf the PlayStation 5 should be relatively easy to get hold of over the next few weeks.
