Roblox is hosting the Bloxy Awards on March 27, with Royal Blood scheduled to perform at a virtual concert during the event. The Bloxy Awards begin at 12pm PT, with the performance slated to take place halfway through the show.
This year marks the 8th annual Bloxy Awards, which shines a light on the “most outstanding creative and technical achievements” made by the community throughout the year. Several awards – including Most Immersive, Most Educational, and Best Live Event – will be handed out to creators during the event.
“Legendary rock duo Royal Blood will be joining us during the Bloxys to perform their new single Limbo for the first time, along with some of their biggest songs to date,” Roblox announced. “Plus, they’ll be debuting exclusive virtual merch in our Avatar Shop.”
The in-game event will feature three songs from the band and will take place in a space-themed concert venue. Once the event ends, you’ll be able to replay the show every hour from March 27 to April 6. April will also see the release of the full, recorded event on YouTube.
Royal Blood is composed of drummer Ben Thatcher and vocalist/bassist Mike Kerr. The band topped the UK charts with 2014’s self-titled Royal Blood album and 2017’s How Did We Get So Dark – and have a new album, Typhoons, releasing on April 30.
“The creativity of the Roblox community powers the experiences on our platform, and the social connections players make while sharing these experiences are deeply enriched by music,” said Jon Vlassopulos, VP and global head of music at Roblox. “We’re thrilled to host Royal Blood as we celebrate the talent of our creators with the greater Roblox community in this immersive, out-of-this-world Metaverse experience.”
Roblox recently went public – putting up shockingly good numbers in the process. After its first day of trading, the company ended with a greater value than both EA and Ubisoft. The company isn’t the only one getting rich off the game, as Roblox players are also getting a cut of the revenue.
The 8th annual Bloxy Awards begin on March 27 at 12pm PT, with Royal Blood making an appearance halfway through the event.
