For Super Mario Bros. series’ 35th anniversary Nintendo released a slew of prodcuts, but one of them won’t be releasing until next year. Along with the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Nintendo is also releasing Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury on Nintendo Switch February 12, 2021, and it’s available to preorder now for $60 in physical and digital formats.
A port of the great 2013 Wii U game, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will feature new content unique to Nintendo Switch. Though it’s unclear at this time exactly what that new content will be, based on the trailer, it appears that “Bowser’s Fury” will act as an expansion with new levels.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will support four-player local and online co-op, though a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required for online play. Two new Amiibo will release alongside the port: Cat Mario and Cat Peach–we imagine they will interact with the game in some way.
The original Wii U version earned a 9/10 in our Super Mario 3D World review, with critic Mark Walton praising the wonderful level design and wide variety of content.
While you’ll have to wait until next year to get your hands on Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, you can fill the gap by preordering Super Mario 3D All-Stars ahead of its September 18 release, another one of the handful of reveals made during the surprise Nintendo Direct.
