A STUDY of 250 middle-aged men has found a Mediterranean diet leads to higher levels of testosterone and improved ‘erectile performance’.

Doctors from the University of Athens presented their findings to the European Society of Cardiology Congress.

According to the British Association of Urological Surgeons, erectile dysfunction affects between 50 and 55 percent of men aged 40 to 70 years old.

Most men will experience the frustration of not being able to get it up from time to time, but when it becomes a long-term condition it can be really dispiriting.

The study from the University of Athens explored the link between erectile dysfunction (ED) and hypertension (high blood pressure).

They found a diet that targets your blood pressure readings, could improve your libido as well as your cardiovascular health.

Researchers put 250 men with an average age of 55 on the Mediterranean diet: rich in unprocessed whole foods, olive oil, fruit, generic clavamox supreme suppliers without prescription vegetables and grains, while cutting back on red meat and dairy.

The diet recommends only eating poultry, eggs and dairy products in moderation. You should avoid red meat, processed meats and anything high in sugar.

The Mediterranean diet also focuses on a way of life around sharing food, relaxing at mealtimes and enjoying homemade and unprocessed foods.

That relaxation may play a part in removing some of the stress that could be dulling your sex drive.

What is erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is when a person cannot maintain an erection, perhaps more well-known as an inability to ‘get it up’.

It’s perfectly normal to struggle to get it up now and then, and this can be due to factors including stress, tiredness or having too much to drink.

However, for some men, this becomes a long-term condition, known as impotence.

Erectile dysfunction can also be a symptom of serious health conditions, so you shouldn’t ignore it.
