Moderna’s Covid jab is one of three officials have approved for use in the UK. And alongside Pfizer and AstraZeneca, it provides the best protection from the now dominant Delta variant. Some recipients will have to brave a few side effects to get theirs, however.
What side effects could the Moderna jab cause?
Vaccines prompt immune system interactions in recipients, allowing their bodies to practice fighting off COVID-19.
Some people who receive the jab may find their body reacts to the instructions or dead virus it contains.
Side effects don’t usually indicate anything untoward and show the immune system is doing its job.
Regardless, the symptoms people experience could vary in severity.
And they have found some symptoms are more common than others.
Experts have grouped potential side effects into common, rare, and potentially severe symptoms.
Symptoms in the latter category could endanger people’s lives.

Dangerous symptoms (two to three every one million people)
The most dangerous symptoms people will experience following the Covid vaccine is anaphylaxis.
Most people won’t experience anaphylaxis unless they have a history of allergic reactions to other substances.
Anaphylaxis symptoms include:
- Feeling faint or lightheaded

Vaccinators are trained to handle severe reactions and will have people wait for a few minutes after the jab to wait for side effects.
