Halo Developer Raises $600,000 For Civil Rights Defense Group

Halo developer 343 Industries stands against racism, and the company raised a lot of money to support a civil rights organization. The studio has announced a $600,000 donation that will go to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, which is a legal group that fights for racial justice.

The money came from the sale of Halo 5: Guardians microtransactions between June 19 and July 19. The game may be a few years old, but people flocked to it to support this cause.

“Heroes fight for what’s right,” 343 said in a tweet announcing the donation. “Thank you for making the world a better place, Spartans.”

In addition to this donation, 343 put out a statement in support of Black Lives Matter, and the company announced that it is increasing its efforts to ban players for racist and hateful behavior.

It’s a big week for Halo, as 343 is going to properly show off Halo Infinite’s campaign mode on July 23 as part of the Xbox Series X first-party games showcase.
